Hon. Dr. Alawiye-King, Executive Chairman, LASUBEB

I welcome you to LASUBEB!

As one of the Global Sustainable Development Goals, equitable quality education takes the centre stage in Governor Babatunde Olushola Sanwo-Olu’s administration. As such, we, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, share in the duty to see that every child in Lagos has access to quality basic education.

Summarised under the Education & Technology pillar of the Governor’s THEMES Agenda, we seek to provide basic education — while leveraging technology — that meets global standards to children of school-going age in Lagos state irrespective of their economic or physical circumstance.

We believe that every child has the right to receive sound knowledge and learn the right skills that will enable him/her make wiser decisions and function well as a human, become more creative, inventive, and solution-oriented, and be a better citizen.

From the Eko Excellence in Child Education and Learning (EKOEXCEL) initiative to the Classroom in Your Home and — in fact — our newly launched Project Zero Lagos, our projects employ cutting-edge strategies that can improve and increase teaching and learning outcomes, make learning more fun while increasing the number of children that have access to basic education and reducing the number of kids found on our streets.

However, we do not intend to do it alone. We require parents and guardians to assist us to deliver on our mandate. We cherish parents who encourage, guide, and support our pupils in their academic and co-curricular adventures. We call them our heroes because that is what they truly are.

Since you are here, it suggests that you are interested in what we do. We value cross-sector partnerships and have worked with many notable individuals, corporate actors, as well as, civil societies who are passionate about our cause. We would love to work with you too. When ensuring quality basic education for every child becomes everyone’s business, our children can be assured of a brighter and rewarding future where their creativity would light our world and their innovations would drive our growth.

I hope you are inspired to join us on this quest that no child is left behind.
